Happy 4th of July! I hope you’re as excited for this holiday as I am. In honor of the day, I wanted to share an old family recipe with you. Treasure this recipe and keep it close. Someday your great-grandchildren will still be baking it!
4th of July Flag Cake
1) Start by baking my signature Vanilla Bean Sheet Cake in a 9×13 pan. We’re going to serve the cake right out of the pan, so no need to fuss with parchment paper.
2) Once the cake cools completely, frost it with one whole recipe of my Whipped Cream Cheese Frosting.
3) Rinse and pat dry a pint each of strawberries and blueberries. Cut the strawberries into quarters.
4) Arrange the blueberries into a cross shape from corner to corner. Then fill in the triangles you’ve created with strawberry pieces. It should look like this:
You can create the stars by cutting a star out of a piece of cardboard and lightly dusting the blueberries below with powdered sugar.
